Starter: free, for one property
Starter is for a self-managed board or an independent manager who wants the tickets, the amenity bookings, the residents and the bylaws in one place for free. It holds one property, and its caps on units, staff seats and storage are the ones printed on the Starter card. They are hard caps: at a cap, the app asks you to upgrade instead of billing you more. More on the free plan.
Pro: billing and records
Pro is for the community that also bills its dues and keeps its records in Leasdesk. It adds invoices, expenses and bank reconciliation; contracts, insurances, maintenances and the inventory, with their alerts, and the meter readings; announcements to the residents; and the desk’s package log, visitor passes and incident log. Pro still holds one property. See billing and dues.
Business: several properties
Business is for management companies: every property in one organization, custom roles, the audit log, your logo and colors, and mail sent from your own address, which the Leasdesk team connects when you ask on a support ticket. A group can pay one bill for the company or a bill per property. Business is sold to verified companies. With a trial, Business starts at once and the organization applies from the Subscription page; the trial is extended while the application waits, so nothing is charged for Business before the Leasdesk team approves it. Without a trial, or when moving from Pro, the approval comes first. See for management companies.
How billing works
- Monthly, through Stripe. The card and the subscription’s invoices live in the billing portal; the plan is changed or cancelled from the app’s Subscription page. A move between Pro and Business is prorated.
- In your billing country’s currency: US dollars, euros, Brazilian reais, Mexican pesos, Chilean pesos or Colombian pesos. Every other country is billed in US dollars.
- By use above what is included. Pro and Business include an amount of units, staff seats and storage, shown on each card. Above it, every extra unit, seat and gigabyte is billed at the card’s rate, and nothing is capped. Starter’s caps, by contrast, are hard.
- Residents never take a seat. A seat is a member of your team. Every household can be invited.
- One trial. Pro and Business start with a free trial, given once per organization and once per person. Checkout takes a card, and nothing is charged before the trial ends. A trial you do not cancel carries on as the paid plan.
- Cancelling. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the trial or of the paid period, refunds nothing, and can be taken back until then. The organization then falls back to Starter.
- Nothing is deleted on a downgrade. The records of Pro’s sections stay readable and can be changed again after an upgrade; the bank reconciliation and its statement come back with Pro, and the audit log, the logo and your own sender with Business.
- Larger deals get a Custom plan, set by hand by the Leasdesk team.
Frequently asked questions
Is Starter really free?
Yes. There is no card to enter and no time limit, and choosing Starter never starts a trial or a charge. It covers one property within the caps shown on its card.
Do residents count as staff seats?
No. Only members who hold a role other than Resident take a seat: administrators, managers, staff, officers and anyone given a custom role. Every household can be invited from its unit without using one.
What does the trial ask for, and what happens when it ends?
Checkout asks for a card, and nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends, the plan carries on and is charged to that card, unless you cancelled; then the organization returns to Starter with its records intact.
Which currency will we be billed in?
The currency of your billing country when it is one of the six the plans are priced in, and US dollars everywhere else. The plan cards above switch between the six.
What happens when we pass the units a plan includes?
On Pro and Business, each unit above the included amount is added to the monthly bill at the per-unit rate on the card, and the same goes for seats and gigabytes of storage; nothing is blocked. On Starter, the app asks you to upgrade instead.
